The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has provided the filing deadline, information, and FAQs for employers with 100 or more employees required to submit “Component 2” pay data for EEO-1. Unlike the requirements for Component 1 data, federal contractors that employ less than 100 employees, don’t have to file EEO-1 Component 2 pay data.

In addition to the typical EEO-1 filing information (gender and ethnicity by work classification), employers are required to report all hours worked and salary data broken into pay bands using W-2 Box 1 earnings. The workforce snapshot includes data from any pay period October through December each calendar year and is not required to be from the same pay period used for filing Component 1 data previously.

Employers required to file this year must submit Component 2 data for calendar year 2017 and calendar year 2018. This can be done online through the EEOC’s LOGIN to File page. Employers required to file should have received a letter and email notification with a User ID needed to access the system. The secure file upload function and validation process for the system currently isn’t available, but is expected to be available in the next few weeks (as of this posting).
